我们又见面了啊,这次的应该足够五分钟了~
Today ,I will tell you a story about a sportman. The man is not famous and he is even 7 years old.
Sports-fan Cody dreams of winning a gold medal in the Paralympics. He doesn’t have the bottom half of his legs.
But he has already proved himself an amazing athlete with a busy schedule of running, swimming, soccer, golf, ice hockey and other sports. He also has other hobbies including playing the piano,hand-cycling,rock climbing, and he is learning to fly a plane.
Mrs McCasland and her husband Mike,37,from Colleyville,Texas, the USA,hope to take Cody to London in 2012 so he can watch the Paralympics for himself, and he will run and swim for his country at future games.“I will take part one day and win a gold medal,” Cody said.
Cody was born with something wrong with his body.He had to undergo (承受) the first of his 15 operations at just three days old.Over the next two years he faced more operations.Cody underwent a double leg amputation (截肢手术) at 15 months old. When he wore his first prosthetic legs (假肢) two months later,he surprised his parents and doctors by managing to stand and walk on them the same day.
The young athlete has even inspired (鼓舞) adults including his own parents to take up sports, leading to the founding of Team Cody. The people in Team Cody take part in marathons and have raised $95,000 for the Texas Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital.Team Cody has also raised more than 4,000 dollars for the Challenge Athletes Foundation to help disabled sportspeople.
“As long as Cody enjoys his sports,we’ll go on supporting him,” said Mrs McCasland.“We hope his story helps other kids and adults, and tells them that disabled people can do all these things.”
This real story moved me deeply. We all have our own dreams, who knows what miracles, you can make it as long as you believe yourselves !
