Millau Viaduct, spans the valley of the River Tarn near Millau in southern France, is the world's tallest bridge - being 270 metres between the road deck and the ground below. The steel deck is 2,460m long, supported by a number of masts, with the seven piers sunk in shafts of reinforced concrete. The entire project was completed in just about three years. The bridge's highest tower stretches a staggering 343 meters in height, even higher than the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and 2.5 km in length, with a total mass of about 36,000 tonnes.
