Dear editor,
My name is Li Hua, a senior high school student. Last Sunday, together with some classmates, I went to a bookstore in our city. When we got there, we were surprised to find that the bookstore had been changed into a restaurant. The owner of the restaurant, who was also the owner of the bookstore, told us that he always lost money when running the bookstore, because not so many people came to buy books. So he had to make the change, for he could make more money running a restaurant.
We are now becoming richer and richer, but fewer and fewer people like buying and reading books. It is really a sad thing! As a great man once said, “There’s no hope for a nation if its citizens do not read.” Now it is really the time for us to do something to encourage our people to read more.
Yours Sincerely
Li Hua
