The length of the rods 更不能隐含（imply）短棍长度相同这个意思.
我认为这是有歧义的表达方法,多个rods, 一个length的话,理解为总长度更为恰当：
The total length of the rods.
或者说the length of each rod is 1m.
或者The rods have the same length of 1m.
我觉得这不是英语单复数的语法,是表达方式的好坏.The length of the rods 我不认为能涵盖更多的涵义,反而表达有了歧义.
