BLOWING bubbles (吹泡泡) is not just for fun.It can be more meaningful.Recently, more than 250 groups of students across New Jersey,US and around the world came together to blow bubbles. They wanted people to think more about autism (自闭症).

Autism is a kind of serious mental (精神的) illness that makes it difficult for someone to react to and communicate with other people.Recent studies show that about one in every 88 children has autism.

Most of the students who took part in the bubble blowing came from Williamstown Middle School,New Jersey. They wanted to break the record for the biggest number blown by one person:34529

According to Jennifer Verme,a teacher from the school, bubbles were chosen for the event because doctors often use bubbles to work with autistic children.

“I just think this makes the children feel like they’re a part of something,” said Verme

The students knew that they weren’t just blowing bubbles for fun,but for a more important reason.

“I’m here to help people who are autistic. My friend has autism,” sixth-grader Sky Jarvis said.

The school also collected nearly 300.All of that money will go to a non-profit group, which started the event.

There were people showing their support form Canada to Australia, but most of the supporters were in New Jersey

“It’s really [wonderful] to see that everybody can do something at once and foe a good [reason]” said Isabelle Mosca, the organizer of the event.“It’s a sign of unity… It’s really a community event and I am so touched by the fact that everybody wants to help”
