It’s really a great honor to have the opportunity for this interview, my name is Tan Yu, but my friends usually call me Yu, I’m 19 years old and I am from Pengzhou middle school of Chengdu.I was born in a family with harmonious atmosphere.There are 3 people in my family, my father is a mechanical engineer and my mother is a mechanical worker.
At a very young age, I often went to the workshop where my parents worked at and there were so many tools.My father and I could use them to make some toys like model steamship or to refit my mini model 4WD racing car.
As I grow older, I’ve developed my interests for more things. For example, I like badminton, swimming, singing, cycling, and I often ride my bicycle for about 50 km to the countryside or mountain to relax myself , I also have a passion in language study, I like to know and imitate different accents of Chinese, and now I am trying my best to speak English as fluently as possible by listening to English songs and watching English movies, I think English is so important that if you want to do well in your research field, you will have to master English very well, only in this way that you can understand more technical information which is written in English.
I think that NYP is a perfect place for me to study mechatronics engineering. I find that NYP can provide me a higher platform for study than that in China, so now I can’t wait to be admitted by NYP, I am looking forward to having a different and colorful life in Singapore, and I believe I will have a brilliant future there.
