成语 wild goose chase 形容 白费力气的搜寻 或 劳而无功的事情
这个说法第一次出现于 16 世纪一个叫 "wild goose chase" 的赛马运动,在文献里最早被引用于莎士比亚 1597 年名著《罗密欧与朱丽叶》里面：
Romeo and Juliet,Act 2,scene 4
书中一个叫 Mercutio 的人说 :"Nay,if our wits run the wild-goose chase,I am done; for thou hast more of the wild goose in one of thy wits than,I am sure,I have in my whole five."
