只听过什么时候只能用that..没听说过不能用that的...该用时就用呗.一般就是that 后面接的从句当做宾语成分的时候,用that,which .
比如：Shanghai is no longer the city that it used to be.
这里it used to be 就是修饰the city.因为city是宾语,又是物,所以用which,that 都可以.
但是一般考试是考察只能用that而不能用which的情况,总结如下.
只能用that 不能用which等其他先行词的情况：
(1) 先行词是形容词最高级或者它的前面有形容词最高级时
(2) 先行词是序数词,或它的前面有一个序数词时
(3) 主句中已有疑问词时
(4) 先行词既有人又有物时
(5) 先行词是all,much,little,something,everything,anything,nothing,none,the one等代词时
(6) 先行词前面有only,any,few,little,no,all,one of,the same,the very等词修饰时
(7) 有两个定语从句,其中一个关系代词已用which,另外一个宜用that
