on the way to后加名词(意思是在去.的路上)就像你所说的,on the way to school,去上学的路上.
但on the way 跟副词的话,一定要省略to,即on the way 后加副词（如 here/ there / home 等）举例：on the way home.类似的用法有 get to ,arrive in/at .
