第一句应该是新概念英语2 里面的句子.
现在分词covering短语这里作伴随状语.分词结构使用主要是为了缩短（代替）句子.
turn,put,cover这三个动作是按依次按顺序的,所以转换为第二句是可以的,但第三句则不合逻辑了.
又如：
He walked out of the room and slammed the door behind him.
He walked out of the room,slamming the door behind him.
