Jack Kerouac was a novelist, poet, writer and the best known of the Beat Generation. He is considered to be one of the most important American authors (Wen Chuan 1997). His best work On the Road was published in 1957, six years after it was finished. With the publication of the novel, the lifestyle of Jack Kerouac and other Beats became well known to all. Like what he wrote in this novel, Jack Kerouac devoted most of his young life to roaming the vast America and writing immortal books till his health was destroyed by alcohol and his fame. The last time people saw him was when he was in a small house on St. Petersburg, Florida with his third wife Stella and his mother Gabrielle. He died at the age of forty seven of internal hemorrhage as a result of his heavy drinking.
