except表示“除去、不包括”,强调排除在外,不包括在内,一般表示同类关系.
except将一个或几个人,物从同一类中除外,其后可接名,代,介,不定式,wh-从句,而except for 说明整个基本情况后,对细节加以纠正,其后通常接名词,
但有几点你必须记住：
1.当except位于句首时要使用except for.
Except for Xiao Li,we all attended the meeting.
2.在介词之前只能使用except,而不能使用except for.
We go to bed before 10,except in the summer.
3.except for有 "除去为了."之意.如：
Mother wouldn't give him any money except for books and stationery.除了买书和文具外,妈妈不给他任何钱.
4.except for"如果不是","若非".如：
Except for you,I would pass the exam.如果不是你,我就会通过考试.
