  • It is reported that Christmas day is

becoming more and more a popular day in China. Some people even predict that in

a foreseeable future Christmas will become a national holiday in China. However

some scholars suggest that people especially the young should not focus too

much on the holiday because of its religious background. The huge driving force

comes from the business world, especially the companies running business in

high street or specialized in gifts and presents. They want to use any chance

to promote their business. Christmas holiday season is seen as one of the best opportunities

in a year. If they could, they would like to import the holiday entirely to

China. The question is that a cultural background is needed if they can do it

successfully, which in why many people engaged in the Christmas promotion

business are keen on introducing the Christmas related cultural product to

China, such as holy songs, concerts, movies, TV programs. They want to create a

nice impression on the mind of people who have no idea about Christmas season.

They want to see people become enjoying the holy season. Gradually people would

accept the holiday with no hesitation. If we see the issue from

the prospective of a nation, it is equal to cultural invasion. If the imported parts

grow too fast, there would be a huge impact to our own culture and tradition. A

risk of some traditional things being replaced by the oversea cultural part

exists to some extent. The due attentions should be paid to this trend. (byztlthb)
