The Great Wall is the symbol of China and one of the seven wonders in the world.In the imperial periods,it was used in defense of the dynasties.It winds its way westward over the vast territory of China,up and down across deserts,grasslands,mountains and plateaus.As it was reconstructed in-Qin,Han and Ming Dynasties,-its length exceeded 5000 kms.Hence the Chinese people call the wall "Wan Li Chang Cheng".Its size is better seen on a map or from an aerial photograph.
The place we went was called "Ba Da Ling".It locates in the north of Beijing."Ba Da Ling",which means "giving access to every direction",is the best-preserved section of the Great Wall.It used to be heavily guarded because it was the outpost to the safeguard of the capital,Beijing.Now,it has lost its strategic importance and has becomes a world-renowned tourist place.More and more tourists come to Beijing to visit the Great Wall.
