Internet in dormitory
Nowadays,computer plays an important role in our lives,including the daily life and the study.Because of the computer,we have another word into our life,too- Internet.Internet can not be a remote place for ordinary persons these days.This term the computers in our dormitories are connected with the Internet.I think it is a great thing for us students.
As we all know,this is informational times,and the information is changing every day,every minute,even every second.The newspapers,magazines and TV programes can not satisfy us any longer.We need much faster machine to help us search the information,know the world.In my opinion,Internet in dormitory do more good than harm.
Several years ago,there was a saying that the globe was becoming more and more smaller,just like a village.And now Internet becomes a part of this big village.
To be college students in 21st century,everyone should know the computer,the Internet,not just for show off,but for the progress of ourselves.
Generally speaking,we can do a lot of things on Internet:searching information,sending or receiving E-mails,talking with others on Internet,buying cheaper goods and so on.Besides,we are English Major students,we need more things on English to enrich our minds and boarden our views.I always browse through some websites like The New York Times or holy bibles to read world news or stories.And it helps me to enlarge my vocabulary and knowledge and also saves me a lot of time on searching newspapers and books in the library or bookstore.How amazing!
Maybe someone will say Internet is not suitable for us students,especially the weak-willed ones because they will addict themselves to the computer games or something else on Internet.Honestly,some contents on Internet are violent and dirty,which will corrode people’s soul.Further more,the long chattering on Internet will hinder people’s study and rest.But all that negative affects occur in those who are weak-willed persons.Although there’s no Internet in dormitory,they will still go to the bars to surf.
For good students,Internet can lead them a positive way of study and entertainment in their spare time.For example,an English Major student can browse through the website just like The Times and listen to BBC world news and VOA special English programs to improve his reading and listening.In addition,Internet also brings friendships between cities or even countries when we graduate from the school,which saves us lots of money on phones.We can talk and communicate with each other freely through QQ,MSN and some kindred software.It is a economical way for us consumers.
The influence of Internet is actually a double-edged sward.We should try to make the most advantages and avoid its harmfulness at the same time.Let the Internet in dormitory be a happy and useful thing to everyone.
