Our class had a heated discussion about whether to use traditional characters or simplified characters. There are pro and cons on the change of the use of simplified characters to the traditional. The supporting side has listed down a few points. Firstly, the traditional characters are rich in our cultural characteristics which will certainly helps us to understand more of our own culture. Since Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong are still using the traditional characters, the change will definitely aids the communications of the two shores. However, on the other hand, there are students who oppose the change think that the simplified version will ease the learning and the usage which had been practiced widely in our country. Simplified characters also cause the foreigners to master the language more easily helping them to know more about our country. In my opinion, I objects the change of the simplified character, this is because people who knows the language well can actually understand the traditional characters too even they are not taught in school. It won't be the cause that reduce the communications among the two shores, the speaking language is more a problem for this scenario. Lastly, the traditional characters are also had changed for many times before, therefore the rich in the culture values are not a very good reason. If someone who wants to learn more about the Chinese culture then they should be learning the ancient oracles. As a conclusion, it is not a good decision to be made of changing the use of the simplified characters back to the traditional characters
