ather 是副词
than 是连词 （只有后面接宾格时才是介词,如She sings better than us all),因此后面加的成分一定与它相比的成分一致.例如
He is a teacher rather than an engineer.与其说他是工程师倒不如说是老师（同是表语名词）
The hero would die rather than surrender.那英雄宁死不屈 (同是谓语动词）
I,rather than you,should do the job.做这工作的应当是我而不是你（同是主语代词）等等
直接接doing:
The singer is yelling rather than singing.那唱歌的人要说他在唱歌倒不如说他在嚎叫.（同是现在分词构成谓语）
