我觉得把by改称from不妥.by……有通过+一个地点的意思,所以用by很恰当.
from有“从……”的意思,从汉语的用词来看,好像用from很好,不错.但是不知道你有没有注意到,from后面跟的地点都是主动者离开的地点,而不是进去的地点.
比如：He comes from NewYork.
He fell from the hill.
jump from the window.
