A Wonderful Outing
our family made an appointment with a foreign tutor to go to Beijing Botanical Garden together on 14th May.
Several days before the outing,I began to pay much attention to the weather forecast. The weather was not steady and changed fast.I kept praying that this Saturday would be a good day.It finally turns out that today is a perfect day for outdoor activity. It is warm but not skin-burning.A soft wind touches the leaves tenderly.Varied and vivid flowers are doting the neat lawns along the lanes. The branches of the trees are concealed by bushy leaves. The leaves are shining in the reflection of the sun.The garden is full of visitors with happy smiling faces. All together, they form amazing beautiful scenery in the Botanical garden.
After we take enough pictures around the fountain,we head toward the deep part of the garden.Densely covered leaves make the lanes shady. We talk casually with the tutor along the lanes. The atmosphere is quite harmonic and happy. We are excited to have a chance to speak in English with a native speaker.Even the two children positively show their English songs to our tutor and make us adults laugh brightly. When the time runs nearly twelve,we decide to find a place for a picnic.
After the picnic,we plan to go to Cherry Valley. But maybe we eat too much, most of us feel tired half way toward Cherry Valley, especially the two children. The little girl begins asking to be carried in arms, and her two braids already droop down which are joked about by a classmate that they are obviously tired from their upright position when we met this morning, turning down now.
An interesting lesson
I could never forget my first composition lesson at middle school. It was full of excitement.
My Chinese teacher walked into the classroom one morning, and instead of taking out some books, she only held an egg in her right hand.
With a big smile on her face, she looked into our surprised eyes and walked up to her desk. She put down the egg,and it rolled on the desk.
She looked at us with teasing eyes and asked,What are we going to do with this, class?Guess!looked at the egg,and scratched my head. What are we doing with a funny egg?Eat it?Not me,I don't like to eat eggs.I told myself.
Helen, what do you think we are going to do?The teacher asked me.
Er ,I suppose you will give the egg to a classmate to eat. No,I'm going to challenge you to stand the egg up on its tip. Now,who wants the first try?
To stand the egg up on its tip? How?
A big boy had the first try.He carefully picked the egg up and stood it up on the desk. But as soon as he took his fingers off the egg,it fell down and tumbled around. He tried some more times, but each time the egg came rolling down.He went back to his seat, looking rather distressed.
