Operation measurement is to use various techiniques to firm up the time and process for the qualified workers to finish a job under the specified operational standards.
Innovation is the guiding ideology of Method Study, one should never be satisfied with existing work methods but always trying to impove and innovate them, and the problems should not be studied in isolation, but to analyze them from the entire process. Therefore, the focus of Method Study is to dig the internal potential of the system, to develop production and improve labor productivity by making improvement of the existing work methods and management without adding human resources, equipment or investment.
the essence of Operation measurement is to provide a method to the management, by which to measure the time needed to finishe an action or a series of actions, and find out invalid time and to distinguish the nature and quantity of valid time.
What Method Study concerns is to reduce workload by improving work methods, while Operation measurement concerns research and reducing invalid time, and set time standard in accordance with the improved work method from Method Study.
Method Study is the premise of Operation measurement, so it's meaningless to do Operation measurement without Method Study first. Operation measurement forms the basis to evaluate the quality of the methods, if only Method Study, no Operation measurement, one can hardly reduce the invalid time and to identify or determine the best method. both purpose is to improve the enterprise efficiency.
