As the train came to a sudden halt, like all other curious passengers, I opened the velvet green curtains of my train compartment in hopes to catch of glimpse of what was wrong. As I pulled the curtain, I had to adjust my eyes to the violent sunlight for a better view of what was going on. Before my eyes were used to such brightness, the train started moving again. Soon it passed a tunnel, and before I knew it, I arrived at Dover. Anywhere you turn you'd see a group of brightly dressed tourists busily engaged in their own little world clicking away with their cameras.

这一段用了halt, adjust to, tunnel和 engaged in.
