To have a Low-Carbon Lifestyle
Last Friday we had a class meeting titled "Low-Carbon Lifestyle starts with me". At the meeting ,we talked about what we can do to have Low-Carbon Lifestyle. Here are some recommendations to get started.
(1) Buy A-rated electrical appliances.
(2) Switch to energy saving light bulbs, when your old bulbs break. They last around 10 times longer than ordinary light bulbs; they will save you money and come in loads of different styles.
(3) Items left on standby can use up to 85% of the energy they would use if fully switched on. Turn them off at the wall – it doesn’t take long.
(4) When making a cup of tea, only boil the amount of water that you need.
(5) Turn off the tap while cleaning your teeth.
(6) If your toilet cistern holds more than 6 litres of water (likely if it was installed before 2001) put a Hippo Water Saving device in it.
(7) Have a shower instead of a bath, which uses far less energy and water.
(8) Set a car-free day, teachers and students can walk or ride a bicycle to school.
After the above suggestions were discussed, I thought of donating our used books to the lower batch or to the school library.
