My wife and I are expecting our first child in just a couple weeks, and we plan to have one or the other of us stay at home with the child for the foreseeable future. I was just wondering how exactly a typical day goes for a SAHP with their first child? Also, I expect that a typical day changes as the child grows up. How does it change, from newborn through preschool?
All I've been told is that "It's hectic" and "You'll have to lower your standards for hygiene and housecleaning" -- which I'm fine with, in the abstract, but I'd like to hear some specifics. How much time do you have for housecleaning, or personal hygiene? Or personal, solitary hobbies such as writing? I also understand that the specifics differ from day to day, but can you give me approximations or a range of times?
