Portuguese champions FC Porto have been barred from competing in next season's UEFA Champions League over a match-fixing scandal,European football's governing body UEFA said on Wednesday.
"The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body has decided FC Porto will not be admitted to the 2008/09 UEFA Champions League after studying a matter involving alleged bribery of referees in Portuguese domestic matches in 2003/04," UEFA said in a statement.
Last month,Porto were found guilty by the Portuguese league of fixing two league matches in 2003/04,the same season they won the Champions League - the world's richest club competition.
As a result the club was fined 150,000 euros,docked six points,the club's president Jorge Pinto da Costa was suspended for two years and Boavista were relegated to the second division for their part in match-fixing.

The woman,who had taught English to refugee pupils at Archbishop Lanfranc school in Croydon for 13 years,quit after she and her husband were arrested on Monday night following a police raid on the tutorial centre where they both work.
The couple,both in their 40s,were questioned and bailed on Monday evening after police raided the Head Start private tutorial college in Merton,south London.

Witherspoon,30,and Phillippe,32,reportedly met at her 21st birthday party before working together on the 1999 film "Cruel Intentions." They married in June of that year and have two children,7-year-old daughter Ava and 3-year-old son Deacon.
The publicists gave no additional details about the split but the celebrity Web site TMZ.com,which broke the story,reported that Witherspoon has contacted the divorce lawyer who represented Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Marie Presley.
