Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, and distinguished delegates.
My name is Xuyuan and I am very glad to be here to inform you of how I mastered English as my 2nd language. When I was a young lad, I always wished to master many different languages, and English was my favourite one. I have been learning English for the past 15 years, which I now believe that I have fully made this language a part of me. Studying this particular language was simply for my own personal interest. I find art and passion in this language, through oral, comprehension, and written assessment. The question is: how did I learn this language so successfully? I had no tutor by my side nor did I study in an international school. I just read tons of English articles and famous novels. I studied every single one of Shakespear's plays as well as the sonnets. During my spare time, I would listen to the BBC news or watch the American sports channel. These methods really helped me to freely manipulate this language at my will.
