London Fashion Week Rolls Out the Glamour
London Fashion Week got off to a glitzy start on Sunday with autumn/winter collections from big name designers Ben de Lisi and Julien MacDonald.De Lisi's show was all about glamour and opulence.
American-born Ben de Lisi has built a reputation for designing clothes with subtle glamour. And it's the red carpet that forms the inspiration behind his collection of this season, all about making entrances and exits.
The collection had a lean silhouette, and fabrics were opulent.
De Lisi's designs have become a firm favorite with young actresses looking for a red carpet dress; Emily Watson and Brit Ekland both wore his dresses at the Cannes Film Festival.
One of London Fashion Week's biggest stars,Welsh designer Julien Macdonald was inspired by an updated version of mystery author Agatha Christie's sleuth Miss Marple.
For daywear,Macdonald showed sensible woollen and fur coats and practical cashmere sweaters. But it's his eveningwear the designer is known for,and his sexy, slinky, sparkly dresses this season didn't disappoint.
Macdonald launched his own label collection in 1997,and quickly became a highlight of the London Fashion Week schedule,as well as a favorite with celebrities from Diana Ross to Jennifer Lopez.
