这句话中的which在定语从句中作主语,因此,此处不能用where
I know a place where we can have a picnic.
在这句话中,where在句中作地点状语,因为,主语：we,谓语：can have,宾语：a picnic,因此,不能用which
再如：
I will never forget the days when we spent our holidays together.
我永远忘不了我们一起度假的日子.（when作状语）
spend 是及物动词,在定语从句中,主语：we,谓语：spent,宾语：our holidays,因此,这句话中的when 应该作时间状语,因此,此处用when.
I will never forget the days which we spent together.
我永远忘不了我们一起度过的日子.（whic作we spent宾语）
在定语从句中,主语：we,谓语：spent,together应该是状语,意为：一起
也就是说,这句话中的spent没有宾语,因此,此处用which,在从句中作宾语
