在一般旧词典中,几乎查不到whomever这个词,但现在的高三临考模拟中,这两个词几乎形影不离,使得有些同学碰到它们感到有些棘手.近几年的教学经验让我感觉对他们还是有章可循,能够分辨的.
下面试着分析一下：
从形式上来看,who(ever)是人称代词的主格形式,一般在句子中作主语；whom(ever)是人称代词的宾格形式,故一般作宾语.
从内容上来说,像whoever（whomever),我个人的体会是一定不能仅仅把它看成是一个词汇,一定要把它看成两个词.这里有一条规则可以一试：
whoever=him (her,them)+he (she,they)
whomever= him(her,them)+ him (her,them)
验证一下：
1.Give it to _____ asks for it first.
Give it to him.He asks for it first.
Therefore,Give it to whoever asks for it first.(whoever= him+ he)
2.We will hire_______ is most qualified.
We will hire her.She is most qualified.
Therefore,We will hire whoever is most qualified.(whoever= her+ she)
3.We will hire_____ you recommend.
We will hire them.You recommend them.
Therefore,We will hire whomever you recommend.( whomever= them + them)
另有一点请同学们必须注意：
不能只看句子的前半部分,要观察整个的句子.一般说来,whomever不能做句子的主语是不能忘记的.
