The legend of Bai Na Gu
In the ancient time,there lived a God who was in the shape of a turtle.He was almighty.He could control the climate.So the native people worshipped him with chicken,sheep and pigs.And the God brought them enough rainfall and good harvest.Unfortunately,the God drank too much once and got drunk for three years.This area suffered draught during the three years.No harvest at all!Then a native girl named Bai Na Gu went to the God and cried for forty-nine days.Finally,as we can imagine,she died.Her tears became two rivers.Thus,people had enough water to grow crops.So they named this area Bai Na Gu in memory of this girl.
