at指的是具体的空间点,比如：at the gate of school；也可是小的地方,比如：at room
in指的是大的地方,比如：in town
on一般不用在地方,可指一些边上,接触面等,比如：on the side of lake, on the wall

the即特指,比如上面的on the side of lake,指的是那个（特指）湖的边上；a即泛指,比如on a side of lake,指的是在一个湖的边上（具体在哪个湖的边上不清楚）
